Barbara (Hale) Thomson, 57, of Marshalltown, formerly of Newton, died Monday, March 30, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 4, 2009, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 1409 S. Eighth Ave. E., in Newton. Burial will be held at 3 p.m Saturday at Homewood Cemetery in Ellsworth.

Barbara (Hale) Thomson was born August 10, 1951
Those left to honor Barb's memory include her daughter, Kate Elizabeth Thomson of Tularosa, New Mexico; three sons: Mickael Gordon Thomson of Des Moines, Ryan Matthew Thomson of Des Moines, and Andrew John Thomson of Lake Ozark, Missouri; the children's father, Gordon Eugene Thomson of Lake Ozark, Missouri; her brother, Jim (Jo Anne) Hale of Irvine, California; sister, Kathy (Greg) Abild of Van Meter, Iowa; and her sister-in-law, Cindy Hale of Reno, Nevada.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Robert T. and Bette Ruth (Vold) Hale; and her brother, John Hale.
Barb grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1969. She was a stay-at-home mom. She enjoyed playing piano and reading, and she loved music.
Memorials to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church may be left at the funeral home or at the church on the day of the service.
