Betty Rose Goda Jones, 75, of Terre Haute, Ind., passed away peacefully in her residence on Sunday, March 8, 2009.
She was born June 10, 1933, in Terre Haute, Ind., to Mike Goda and Mary Mehoke Goda. Betty retired from the Accounting Control Department of Columbia House in 1991.
Survivors included her son, Tim Tennant and wife Dee of Terre Haute; a daughter, Karen Snider and husband Steve of Martinsville, Ind.; a brother, Joe Goda and wife Karen of Terre Haute; a sister, Jerrie Fox and husband Dick of Broken Arrow, Okla.; grandchildren, Kimberly Yaman and husband Trent of Chicago, Ill., D.J. Tennant of Terre Haute and Chrissie Tennant of Brownsburg, Ind.; stepdaughters, Debbie Scott and husband John of Rigby, Idaho, Tierri Peterston and husband Keith of Bossier City, La., Laurie Anthony and husband Steve of Newton and Karen Jones of Clearwater, British Columbia; stepgrandchildren, Molly Mykisen of Nevada, Jamie Jones of Iowa, Todd Schrier of Lousiana, Joshua Cupples of Iowa, Tianna Bresley and husband Norm of Iowa, Donny Sudbrock of Iowa, Hope Shondell of Iowa and Wendy Lambie of Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Pat Geier; three brothers, Mike, Bob and Jack Goda; and a step-grandchild, Rodney Schrier.
Betty was a member of the Marine Corps League, the Sycamore Country Club, the Elks and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was formerly a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and volunteered at Catholic Charities. Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with family and friends. She loved having fun, which included dancing, picnics in the park, shopping or gambling in Las Vegas.
Memorial services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street in Terre Haute, with the Pastor Rick Swan officiating. Visitation is scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home. The family kindly requests that memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Wabash Valley, 400 Eighth Ave., Terre Haute, IN 47804.
