DES MOINES — Funeral Services for Patricia “Jeannie” Davis, 71, of Newton, will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 20, at the Pence~Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Family and friends are invited to a lunch and visitation time at the Pence Tribute Center, following the funeral services. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jeannie’s name are being designated and may be left at the Pence~Reese Funeral Home. Patricia LaJean (Franzen) Davis, “Jeannie”, the daughter of Marvin M. Franzen and Dorothy Mae Chamberlain, was born Feb. 22, 1938 in Lovilia, Iowa. She was a graduate of the Lovilia Senior High School, Class of 1956.
On June 29, 1957, Jeannie was united in marriage with Thomas C. Davis in Newton. She was employed by Automatic Washer and the Maytag Company both in Newton, as a clerk in the mailroom. She had devoted her life to her family and friends, enjoying antiques, reading, tennis, and ice skating. Jeannie died on Tuesday morning, March 17, 2009, at the Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin M. Franzen. Those left to honor Jeannie’s memory include her husband Thomas C. Davis of Newton; her daughter Kari (Dan) Warnick of Newton; her sons: Kelley Davis of Newton, Hal Davis of Des Moines and Joe Davis of Newton; her five grandchildren: Mitchell Davis, Troy Wood, Meagan Davis, Fletcher Christy and Ian Christy; and one great-grandchild Cooper Lenz-Christy; her mother Dorothy Mae Barton of Newton; her sisters and brothers: Phyllis Franzen of Newton, Larry (Nancy) Franzen of Prairie City, Judy (Terry Johnson) McGinn of Johnston, Chuck (Wendy) Barton of Norfolk, Neb., Rick Barton of Kellogg and Terry Franzen of Lovilia; several nieces, nephews; and her many great friends.
