Richard Marten “Marty” Smith, 45, of Colfax, formerly of Newton, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at his home in rural Colfax.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Burial will be at the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton. Memorials to the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Grinnell may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors include his two sons, Nathan and Nicholas Smith, both of Newton; brother, Steve (Lenae) Smith of Des Moines, Iowa; sister, Traci (Tab) Newbury of Urbandale, Iowa; and his four nieces, Erin and Katie Newbury and Breanna and Mariah Smith.
