COLLINS — Craig Lee Carter, 51, of Collins died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at Mariposa Park in rural Kellogg.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at Gosport Cemetery in rural Melcher-Dallas with Pastor David Pinkerton officiating.
Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Memorials may be left in Craig’s name for the family to designate at a later date. Wallace Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton is handling arrangements.
The son of Wilbur and Thelma (Patterson) Carter, Craig was born March 25, 1957, in Newton. He attended Newton public schools, and on Aug. 29, 1987, he married Jill Mathes in Newton.
Craig worked as a truck mechanic for Martin-Marietta and enjoyed camping, fishing and loved his dog, Jake. He lived in the Newton area and had resided in Collins since 1993.
Survivors include two sons, David Allen Carter and William Joe (Joni) Carter, all of Newton; one granddaughter, Kelsey Saunders of Newton; his mother, Thelma Carter of Newton; one sister, Karen (Harold) Nall of Layton, Utah; one niece, Halynn (Troy) Thurgood of Clinton, Utah; and special friend, Beth Corbin of Altoona.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur Carter, in 1998 and his wife, Jill Carter, in 2002.
