Mrs. Paul Turner Former Newton Teacher Dies

Mrs. Paul (Dopra) Turner, 54, of 401 County View, Wichita, Kan., a former Newton Community School District teacher, died Wednesday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Wichita.

Mrs. Turner was the wife of a former Newton Community High School athletic director, football and track coach.

She was injured in an accident in Kansas last fall and had been hospitalized since that time.

Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Resthaven Mortuary Chapel at Witchita.

Graveside rites will be held at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Johnson County Memorial Gardens near Shawnee Mission, Kan.

In addition to her husband, Paul, an administrator in the Wichita schools, she is survived by five sons, John of Medford, Wis., Steve in the Army stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., Mike of Houston, Tex., Robert of Leavenworth, Kan., and Gary at home and four grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Martha Mary Strickland of Wichita, Kan., and Mrs. Betty Merle Hodierne of Galesburg, Ill.

Mrs. Turner was born Sept. 29, 1922 at Salina, Kan. She served in the Women's Army Corps (WAC) during World War II. ~ Newton Daily News, March 10, 1977.
