Stinson Dies of Injuries In Accident
Baxter Retired Farmer Injured in Car~Train Crash Monday

Baxter-Injuries suffered in a car-train crash Monday at the Kracht crossing southwest of Baxter proved fatal to John B. Stinson, 64 year old retired farmer and resident of this city, Mr. Stinson succumbed at 6:50 p.m. Wednesday in Skiff Memorial Hospital, Newton, where he was rushed after the accident. In addition to severe bruising and facial lacerations, he suffered chest injuries.
The body was brought to Baxter where funeral arrangements are pending.
The accident happened as Mr. Stinson, riding in a car driven by his daughter, Dolores, crashed with a southbound freight train late Monday afternoon. The car was said to have been demolished in the crash. Miss Stinson, a senior in the Baxter high school, received minor cuts and bruises.
The son of the late Thomas Stinson, the descendant was born April 21, 1880, near Baxter and had spend his entire life in this community. A chronic sufferer of asthma, he retired from farming just west of Baxter in the fall of 1941, due to ill health.
In addition to his wife, the former Ruby Thurman, to whom he was married to Jan. 1, 1911, he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Donald Young, Mrs. James Mullihan, Mrs. William Pollard and Dolores; one granddaughter, Linda Lee Mullihan; and three sisters, Mrs. John Tipton, Mrs. Alva Willard and Mrs. Fred Schweinebart, all of Baxter.
Mrs. Stinson is an employee of the Advertising Novelty Factory in Newton.
Mr. Stinson was a member of the Baxter Congregational Church.
