Donald Young Dies Monday; Rites Thursday
Baxter- Donald Young, 64, a longtime resident of the Baxter Community and former resident of the Kellogg community, died Monday evening at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the United Church of Christ in Baxter.
The Rev. T. A. Thompson, pastor of the church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery in Baxter.
Boyd-Nickel Funeral Home in Baxter is handling arrangements.
Survivors are his wife, Marie; a brother, Willard Young of Anaheim, Calif.; and a sister, Mrs. John (Edith) McKenzie of Comanche.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Young was a former member of the Pleasant View Church in Kellogg, a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational in Baxter, had been president of the Baxter Commercial Club and a 4-H Leader and President.
Mr. Young, who formerly farmed in the Kellogg and Baxter areas, was the owner of the Texaco Oil Station and Bulk Services for 16 years and had been employed by Al Nuzum before retiring in 1973.
The son of John Percy and Bertie Winslow Young, he was born Mar. 3, 1910 at Kellogg, attended Kellogg schools and was a graduate of Newton Community School.
He was married to Marie Stinson May 24, 1934 at Bethany, Missouri.
