MONROE - Gertrude C. Worth, 97, of Monroe, died Monday, Aug. 23, at Fountain West in West Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Monroe with the Rev. Karen Merrill, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.

Visitation will be held after 4 p.m. today at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe where family will be present from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The daughter of Jesse and Willa Clarke Rinemuth, she was born Feb. 7, 1902, in Monroe. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1920 and married Russell Worth Nov, 23, 1921, in Monroe.

Mrs. Worth lived in California and Iowa Falls after getting married before returning to Monroe in 1946. She was a resident of Fountain West in West Des Moines for the past 10 years. She was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and John Sayre of West Des Moines; and a sister-in-law, Grace Rinemuth of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother. ~ Newton Daily News, Wednesday, August 25, 1999, p. 7A.
