PELLA — Mary Elizabeth Klein, 95, of Pella, formerly of Monroe, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at Pella Regional Health Center.
Funeral services for Mrs. Klein will be on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Coburn Funeral Home of Monroe at 11 a.m. with burial following at Silent City Cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. Klein will be held one hour prior to funeral service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mary Elizabeth Klein, age 95 of Pella, formerly of Monroe, died Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Pella Regional Health Center. The daughter of Frank and Haidee (Haines) Turner, Mary was born on December 15, 1913 in Prairie City. She was a graduate of Prairie City High School. On June 4, 1933, Mary was united in marriage with Vern Klein in Missouri. The couple was blessed with sixty years of marriage until Vern’s passing in 1993. Mary was a devoted homemaker for her family. She enjoyed watching sports, but basketball was always her favorite. While living in Monroe she was a member of the Today’s Club and Bridge Group. Mary always cherished the time she was able to spend with family.
Those left to honor her memory are her children; Robert Klein and his wife Roberta of Hastings, MN, Judy Wilson and her husband Carl of Monroe, Janie Vander Hoek and her husband Arlie of Pella; ten grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vern; three brothers; Francis Turner, Walter Turner, and Joseph Turner; and one grandson, Joel Vander Hoek.
