Willis Pierce, 78, of Colfax died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at his home in rural Colfax.
Funeral services for Mr. Pierce will be Saturday, Feb. 7, at 10:30 a.m. at Colfax First Baptist Church with burial following at McKeever Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Pierce will be on Friday, Feb. 6, at Coburn Funeral Home of Colfax from 2 to 8 p.m. with family present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The son of Faye and Margaret (Lynch) Pierce, Willis was born on February 2, 1931 in Blairstown, Iowa. Willis proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. On July 7, 1967 Willis was united in marriage with Linda Ludwick at the Colfax First Baptist Church. Willis was a farmer in the Colfax area and he loved raising cows and horses. When not out working on the farm, Willis cherished the time he could spend with family and friends. He never missed a morning with Lenard and Joyce’s Coffee Club. Willis was a member of the Colfax American Legion and the Colfax First Baptist Church.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Linda Pierce of Colfax; son, William Pierce and his wife Sandy of Duluth, MN; two grandsons, Derek and Andrew; one brother, Lenard Pierce and his wife Joyce of Colfax; one sister, Irene Warrick of Colfax; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Willis was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, two sisters; Gertrude Warrick and Wilma Hill, and seven brothers; Gene Pierce, Park Pierce, Melvin Pierce, Leroy Pierce, William Pierce, Merle Dean Pierce, and Robert Pierce.
