Bonnie L. Lounsbury, 61, died on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Reverends John Hlad and Charles Rutter, both of Knoxville. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.
Memorials to the Bonnie Lounsbury Memorial Fund may be left at the funeral home.
The daughter of Frederick and Eleanor (Hagen) Lounsbury, she was born on April 13, 1947, in St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada. Bonnie had lived in Newton since 1952 and was a graduate of Newton Senior High School, class of 1965.
Bonnie had worked 42 years at the Vernon Company, starting when she was in high school and retiring in 2007. At the time of her retirement, she was the payroll manager. Bonnie loved the outdoors, feeding the birds, deer and any other animal that needed help. She also enjoyed gardening and sharing her harvest with family and friends.
Survivors include her three sisters, Joan “Joni” (Rich) Bailey of Knoxville, Barbara A. Wilson of Newton and Elsie J. (Fred) McCumber of Reasnor; and nine nieces and nephews, Beverly (Rodney) Kelso of Knoxville, Laura (Brian) Rose of Ottumwa, Jason Pothoven (fiancée, April Thomas) of Knoxville, Amy (Shane) Engle of Kellogg, Stefanie (Mike) Tasler of Des Moines and Brian McCumber of Reasnor .
She was preceded in death by her parents.
