NEVADA — Elizabeth S. Hackler, 99, of Nevada, formerly of Collins, died Jan. 29, 2009, at Story County Long Term Care in Nevada. Services will be Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 10:30 a.m. at the Ashton Chapel near Baxter. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Elizabeth was born in Slater on Aug. 17, 1909, the daughter of Nels and Nellie (Highland) Ihle. She graduated from Slater High School in 1927. She married Vern Merlin “M” Hackler in Oklahoma in 1951. He preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 1980. She enjoyed her involvement in the Ashland Chapel, Bethlehem Flowers and Slater American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by nephews, Jack (Lou) Ihle of Nevada and Ronald (Gwen) Ihle of Slater; a niece, Deanna (Bruce) Grier of Mesa, Ariz.; her good friend, Guy Elliott; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; and three brothers, Amund, Cyrus and Everet.
Memorials may be given to Story County Long Term Care in Nevada.
Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
