Mrs. Nancy Stevens died at Home on Country Line January 31, 1948

Mrs. Nancy Alice Stevens, aged 77 years, widow of the late Samuel Stevens, died Saturday at her home on the Clay-Owen Co. line, four miles southwest of Bowling Green. Her husband preceded her in death five years ago.

She was born in Owen County and as a daughter of David and Mary Kendall Shepard (note different spelling of Shepherd/Shepard). She had been a member of the Otterbein E.U.B. Church since childhood.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Harley Orman of Clay City; four sons, Clarence of Detroit; Zenas of Newton, Iowa; Lee and Coy at home; two half-brothers, Estel Stevens, at home and John Stevens of Jasonville; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Transcriber (and granddaughter) Note: He had one son, Clarence who spelled his last name Stephens. Also had a girl that lived with them and helped them with the chores considered a daughter and sister but never legally adopted, Huldah Neller.
