Livings, Susan C. (Waller)

Close of a Beautiful Life

The funeral of Grandma Livings, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. O. Rogers, on Wednesday of last week, was held at the Baptist Church on Friday at 2 o’clock, conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. S. Nasmith, and was largely attended by those who had known the good woman for many years, and whose hearts she had won by her gentle, loving ways and sweet graces.

Mother Livings was born in Rutherford County, Tennessee, Jan. 3, 1826, and was nearly 70 years of age when her life work was finished. Her maiden name was Susan C. Waller. She was united in marriage to Albert G. Livings, on May 28, 1851, and was the mother of four children – Mrs. Dr. Rogers, being the only one still living, and I the family of this devoted daughter, she has made her home and been tenderly and lovingly cared for about sixteen years. In her girlhood she united with the church, and her long life has been a beautiful picture of faithful, earnest Christian works. Mother Livings’ life work is finished, but the good she has done will live throughout eternity. ~ The Newton (IA) Record, Friday, December 20, 1895
