PRAIRIE CITY — Maryalyce Clark, 78, of Prairie City died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, Dec. 9, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Following visitation the body will be cremated and a graveside service will be at a later date. Maryalyce Clark, age 78 of Prairie City, died Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. The daughter of Jerald and Effie (Bailey) Gilbert, Maryalyce was born on February 13, 1930, in Des Moines. On June 7, 1947, she was united in marriage to Vernon L. Clark in Hutchinson, Kansas. Maryalyce lived most of her life in Prairie City. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, reading, playing cards, working at the state fair, NASCAR racing and Hawkeye Basketball. Maryalyce also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Maryalyce will be deeply missed by her daughter, Kathy (Tim) Whitaker of Des Moines, her son, Danny Lee (Lanete) Clark of Plano, Texas; five grandchildren, Tim Clark, Nichole Clark, Rebecca Clark, Kari (Jon) Heath and Dru Eshelman, and a step grandson, Jesse Metzger and two step grand daughters, Bre Ann Whitaker and Brandan Thompson. Also surviving is a brother, Norman L. Gilbert and two nieces and three nephews. Preceding her in death was her parents, an infant son, Thomas James and her husband, Vernon, in 2005.
