DES MOINES — Frances Jeanne (Booth) Brodrick, 87, died at Wesley Acres in Des Moines on Nov. 22, 2008, as the result of a stroke. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St., with the Rev. Lee Webb officiating. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery at a later date.
Frances was born on Dec. 17, 1920, in Washington to Orion D. and Nellie (Truckenmiller) Booth. Frances graduated from high school in West Chester and from AIB in Des Moines. She was a bookkeeper and statistical typist, eventually retiring from KPMG (formerly Peat, Merriwick).
Frances was united in marriage to C. Nelson Brodrick in Des Moines on Aug. 15, 1948. She was a longtime member of Union Park United Methodist Church. Frances loved dogs, playing cards, visiting with friends and watching basketball. She was a very organized, kind, loving and gentle person.
Surviving is her step-son, Harry (Lynn) Brodrick of Newton; her step-daughter, Martha Abbas of Des Moines; five step-grandchildren, Carolyn Quinn of Crystal Lake, Ill., Charles (Tammy) Yabuta-Brodrick of Roselle, Ill., Julie (Daniel) Long of Des Moines, Michael (Edina) Abbas of Memphis, Tenn., and Jeffrey (Haruhi) Abbas of Iowa City; 12 step-great-grandchildren, Collin, Meagan, and Ryan Quinn, Keith and Jacqueline Yabuta-Brodick, Ilana and Jessie Dennis, Alyssa, Elise, Hayley and Akane Abbas and Tajma Hubijer; and a step-great-great-granddaughter, Caitlyn Wood.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brother, Melvin; sister, Esther; step-great-granddaughter, Kecia Abbas; and a step-son-in-law, Dale Abbas.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to her church, Wesley Acres, or to Wesley Community Hospice.
