Oskaloosa — Marian E. Macksey, 89, of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday night, Nov. 18, 2008, at the Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa. Funeral services will be on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Oskaloosa, with the Rev. Thomas Spiegel officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery at Oskaloosa.
Visitation will begin at the Bates Funeral Chapel on Friday after 11 a.m. with the family present on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. A Rosary will be recited Friday at 7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Marian E. Macksey, 89, of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday night, November 18, 2008, at the Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa. She was born August 24, 1919, at Brooklyn, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest C. and Augusta DeVilder DeLoof. She worked at the old Continental Overall Factory in Oskaloosa. On June 4, 1946, she was united in marriage to Cecil R. Macksey at Brooklyn, and Cecil died March 14, 2008. They lived in Oskaloosa all of their married life, and Marian operated ‘Plants and Things’ from her residence for many years, and also through flea markets and farmers markets. She enjoyed tending her gardens. Marian was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Her family includes two sons: James (& Carol) Macksey of Newton and Patrick Macksey of Chicago, Illinois; and a daughter and her husband: Mary and John Foty of Maple Grove, Minnesota; a daughter in law: Kieko Macksey of Oskaloosa; six grandchildren: Rebekah (& Daniel) Rexius, Rachel, Hannah, and Isaac Foty, and Sarah and Paula Macksey; a sister: Margaret Burns of Brooklyn, Iowa, and a brother and his wife: August and Esther DeLoof of Louisville, Kentucky.
Besides her husband, Marian was preceded in death by her parents; a son: Michael Macksey; and two sisters: Leona Andes and Dorothy Kochuyt.
