ROCK CREEK — Carolyn Sue Vander Schel, 65, of Rock Creek died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
The Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton is in charge of arrangements. No services are scheduled.
The daughter of Forrest and Susanna (Daniel) Kephart, Carolyn was born on Sept. 6, 1943, in Newton. A graduate of Newton Senior High School, she grew up in Newton and had lived at Rock Creek for the past 18 years. She was united in marriage to Robert Vander Schel on Nov. 16, 1991, in St. Louis, Mo.
Carolyn enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and sitting by a bonfire.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Vander Schel; a daughter, Dawna (Don) Ringgenberg of Newton; one step-daughter, Heidi Vander Schel of Newton; one step-son, Vince Vander Schel of Kellogg; granddaughter, Danette Ringgenberg of Newton; two brothers, Eldon (Janet) Kephart of Brooklyn and Kenneth (Linda) Kephart of Mo.; his twin sister, Marilyn Gragg of Mitchellville and sister, Sharon (Marvin) Van Sickle of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Danette Wheeler; and a brother, Vernon Kephart.
