OBITUARY
MRS. FRANK CARPENTER
Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Frank Carpenter of Reasnor yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Reasnor Methodist Episcopal church and burial was in the family lot at the Mt. Zion cemetery. An impressive sermon address was delivered by the Rev. J.B. Pritchard, pastor of the Reasnor M.E. church. A large crowd of friends and relatives gathered at the church yesterday afternoon to pay their last tribute to Mrs. Carpenter.
Pallbearers were Lute Schultz, R.B. Jackson, James Laird, Fred Rhodans, Arthur Smith and Ed Coker.
A quartet composed of Mrs. Alva Grafis, Mrs. J.B. Pritchard, Clarence Tool and George Tool sang two selections, "We Are Going Down the Valley," and "Does Jesus Care," accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Earl Guthrie. A vocal solo entitled, "Going Home" was sung by Fred W. Hough accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Fred Reeve both of Newton.
BORN IN 1870
Anna Zwank, daughter of Jacob and Anna Zwank was born in Marion county, Iowa, Sept. 9, 1870 and died at her home in Reasnor, July 30, at 5:30 o'clock in the afternoon at the age of 58 years.
On April 6, 1890, she was united in marriage to Dr. Frank Carpenter and to this union one son, Fred Elton Carpenter was born. All of her married life with the exception of a few years spent in Des Moines was spent in Reasnor, where her husband, Dr. Carpenter has been a successful practicing physician. Mrs. Carpenter was well known throughout the county and was prominent in social affairs in Reasnor. Mrs. Carpenter was a member of the Reasnor Methodist Episcopal church and was active in all church activities.
Mrs. Carpenter had been in ill health for a number of years and in January 1923, she submitted to an operation at Rochester, Minn., for stomach trouble and again about two years ago she submitted to a second operation at Rochester. In May of this year, she suffered with an attack of the influenza and had never completely recovered. Due to her weakened condition she became ill and had been bedfast for four weeks.
SURVIVORS
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Frank Carpenter of Reasnor, one son, Dr. Fred Carpenter of Newton, one grandson, Fred Elton Carpenter, jr., of Newton, two sisters, Mrs. E.M. Cary of Newton and Mrs. C.S. Landmesser of Killduff and three brothers, Herman Zwank, Peter Zwank and Ira Zwank of Reasnor. Mrs. Carpenter is also survived by three nieces, Mrs. Roscoe Pahre of Newton, Mrs. Kenneth Carnahan and Mrs. James DePenning both of Reasnor and a nephew Louie Zwank of Reasnor, and many friends.
