Bayonne Elizabeth DePenning, the daughter of Henry Frederich Luther Schultz and Mabel Claire (Mather) Schultz, was born August 22, 1914 in Reasnor, Iowa. She attended the Newton, Iowa area schools, and several years of Normal Schooling. Bayonne had devoted her life to her family. She had taught rural Jasper County School before her marriage, and also in the 1960's.
On June 3, 1936, Bayonne was united in marriage with Harold E. DePenning in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She and Harold lived on and farmed near Newton, Iowa until 1948, when they moved to the present farm 3½ miles NE of Reasnor. She enjoyed helping Harold on the farm, cooking, gardening and traveling. Harold also worked for the Maytag Company during World War II. They were members of the St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in rural Sully, where she was active in women's groups (ALCW). For health reasons, Bayonne and Harold moved to Boulder, Colorado in 2001, to be near their son and daughter-in-law.
Death came to Bayonne at the age of 94, on Wednesday morning, November 19, 2008 at the Mesa Vista Nursing Home in Boulder. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold on May 15, 2004; and a sister Beatrice.
Those left to honor Bayonne's memory include her son and daughter-in-law David and Doris DePenning of Golden, Colorado; her grandson Paul (Becca) DePenning and two great grandchildren, Brandon and Jackson, who all have just moved to Colorado from of Haymarket, Virginia; and her many good neighbors and friends.
