Harrison, C. F. ‘Fred’ – 1928-2008

C. F. (Fred) Harrison, the son of Charles and Wave (Caldwell) Harrison, was born Jan. 11, 1928, in Ames. Fred was united in marriage with Patricia A. Clemens on March 28, 1948, in Ames.
He served in the Army in Korea from June 1946 to November 1947. They moved to Newton in 1952. Together they had three children, Mike, Rick and Janet. He worked at the Maytag Company in the credit department for 36 years before retiring in 1989. He was very active in Little League, Newton Booster Club, was a life member of Elks Lodge 1270, VFW Post 1655, American Legion Post 111, Maytag Management Club, Newton Lodge #59 A.F. and A.M., and affiliated bodies, Izaak Walton League and Newton Chapter No. 100 Order Eastern Star.
Fred died on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2008, at Hospice of Jasper County Monarch Wing in Newton. He was 80.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pat; son, Rick; five brothers, Ralph, Albert, Floyd, Earl and Willard Warren; and a sister, Dorothy Overgaard.
Those left to honor Fred’s memory include his son, Michael D. (Pamela) Harrison; his daughter, Janet (Jim) Rader; two granddaughters, Dotty (Joel) Sudbrock and Lacy Lane; two grandsons, Brett (Lacey) Bozarth and Joshua Bozarth; six great-grandchildren, all of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice of Jasper County Monarch Wing may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home.
