JACOB HOUCK

Jacob Houck died at his home near Runnells, Wednesday, July 31, aged 67 years.

He was born in Ohio, Jan. 27, 1862, the second son of Lemuel and Mary Jane Houck. When but a few years of age he came to Iowa with his parents, settling near Grundy Center. In a short time they moved to Pella, where he grew to manhood.

In 1877 he was married to Lillie Mae Slayden, of St. Charles, Iowa. To this union were born four children, Mae Rousten, of Grimes; Sylvia Watt, of Vandalia; Frank Houck of Des Moines; and Bonnie Houck, at home. He is also survived by one brother, five sisters and eleven grandchildren.

Ten years after his marriage he and his family moved to near Runnells. He spent the remainder of his life at Runnells and Vandalia.

Transcriber note: This obit has his death as 31 July 1929 (from Knoxville newspaper) but I checked Jasper Co. Death Record on him and his death was: 24 July 1929 and burial date 26 July 1929.
