MONROE — Isabelle M. Vaught, passed away on Nov. 14, 2008, at Immanuel Medical Center of Omaha, Neb.
Visitation for Isabelle will be today, Monday, Nov. 17, at Coburn Funeral Home of Monroe from 5 to 8 p.m. A celebration of life service will be on Tuesday, Nov. 18, at the United Methodist Church of Monroe at 11 a.m. with burial following at Silent City Cemetery of Monroe.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Monroe United Methodist Church, Monroe Emergency Unit, the Crowell Home of Blair, Neb., or Alegent Health Foundation for Immanuel Medical Center of Omaha, Neb. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
Isabelle was born Nov. 27, 1914, in Indianola, she was the daughter of Peter and Isabella (Morrison) Ross. Her early adult life was spent as a teacher around Pershing. At this time she married Dean Vaught and moved to Monroe where she taught kindergarten for many years.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Dean Vaught, Roy Putnam and Burton Chipps; sisters, Agnes Yowell, Charlotte Hall and Anna Mae Putnam; also an infant brother.
Isabelle is survived by her daughters and their families, Janis (Michael) Vaught-Brezina, Joan Kjoller-Porterfield and Lois (Curtis) Olsen Starks; five grandchildren and their spouses, Jeff (Sharon) Kjoller, Jill (Sam) Weaver, Mark Olsen, Kristin (Ken) Koubsky and Dan (Theresa) Olsen; plus nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; friends; and her very special caregiver/companion, Marilyn Vander Linden and her family.
Isabelle brought love and happiness to all she touched. She was a respected citizen of Monroe and a long-standing member of the Monroe United Methodist Church. Her front porch was a gathering place every year at Old Settlers with the welcome mat always out. Her friends loved her competitive bridge playing and humor, which she continued till she passed. All who knew her adored this determined, stubborn, proud mother and friend. She will be dearly missed.
