11-27-1958 Wednesday Baxter New Era p1 - Thomas Jeffers, 87 passed away Friday - Thomas J Jeffers, 87, resident of the Baxter area for most of his life, passed away at his home Friday afternoon. Funeral services were held Monday at 1:30 PM at the Baxter Congregational Church.

Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. O L (Zella) Cochran of Rolla, Mo.; one brother, Walter Jeffers of Collins; seven grandchildren including Mrs. Loren Van Hoosen and Mrs. William Bassett, both of Newton, and 28 gr. grandchildren.

Mr. Jeffers was born April 22, 1870, at Greencastle near Colfax and married Blanche Stier, who died in 1937. He was a retired farmer. Burial was in Restland Cemetery at Baxter. The Toland Funeral Home in Newton was in charge of arrangements.
