Margaret Ann Swalwell, 76, of Newton entered into eternal life on Sept. 26, 2008, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at The Congregational Church in Baxter. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Boyd-Davis Funeral Home in Baxter. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery in Baxter.

Margaret was born Dec. 21, 1931, the daughter of John and Beulah (Patterson) Schmidt in Baxter. She was raised in Baxter and attended Baxter Community School, graduating in 1951. She was united in marriage to Charles Swalwell on March 19, 1955, in Newton.
Margaret was employed as a telephone operator in Baxter in 1951, then went to Newton Manufacturing until 1953. From there she worked at Maytag in the shipping and receiving department 81 until 1955. She then became a full time farmwife.
She lived in the Baxter-Newton area all her life and was a member of the Congregational Church, serving on the memorial committee. In her free time, she loved caring for her garden, pets, farm animals and having a life on the farm.
Margaret will be missed by her husband, Charles; children, Mark (Julie) Swalwell of Baxter, Matt Swalwell of Newton, Diane (John) Engle and Jodi Swalwell, all of Baxter; her grandchildren, Maggie Engle, Tommy Engle and Sam Weissenburger, all of Baxter; her sisters, Nadine Dee of Baxter and Joan Smith of Newton; and brother, Larry (Janice) Schmidt of Baxter.
In eternal life, Margaret joins her parents; her son, Miles; brothers, Jack, Charles, Dick, Eugene and Leland Schmidt; and sisters, Leona Fahrney and Esther Shattuck.
