Audrey Haunsperger, 82, of Newton died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at Hospice of Jasper County’s Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.
Family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg.
Memorials to Our Silent City Cemetery Fund, the Kellogg Fire and Ambulance or to Hospice of Jasper County may be left at the funeral home.
The daughter of Walter C. and Ethel A. (Smith) Pease, she was born Nov. 10, 1925, in Tama County. She had lived in the Newton, Kellogg and Grinnell areas since 1951. Audrey was united in marriage to Jerome J. Haunsperger on Dec. 22, 1951, in Newton.
Audrey worked as a production worker for Midwest Manufacturing Company in Kellogg; she was also a homemaker and babysitter. Audrey was a member of the Kellogg Historical Museum; and a past member of the Kellogg American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, walking, flowers, word puzzles and bird watching.
Survivors include three sons, Michael (Julie) Haunsperger of Raleigh, N.C., Stephen (Cindy) Haunsperger and Richard “Rick” (Janie) Haunsperger, all of Newton; four grandchildren, Zachary, Matthew, Katie and Jacob; one step-granddaughter, Carissa; and one step-great-grandson, Carter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerome in 2003; three brothers, Wayne, Delmar and Willis Pease; and four sisters, Lola Davis, Florence Croskey, Nina Davis and Helen Rabe.
