PRAIRIE CITY - Funeral services for Ila p. Winegar Sparks, 79, of Prairie City will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 6, at the Prairie City Christian Church.

The Rev. Marshall Myers of Knoxville will conduct services. Burial will be in Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

Friends may call at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City after noon today. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Christian Church will be accepted.

Survivors are a stepdaughter, Jackie Walker of Denver, Colo.; three step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Kenneth Winegar of Prairie City and Gilford Winegar of Pella; and a sister, Gladys (Mrs. Jack) Heemsbergen of Penrose, Colo.

Mrs. Sparks was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Herbert Sanger, in 1963, second husband, Donald Sparks, in 1982, a daughter in infancy, and a daughter, Regina Rizzuti.

Mrs. Sparks, who was a member of the Prairie City Christian Church, had taught school for many years in and around Prairie City.

The daughter of Will and Ethel Frazier Winegar, she was born Dec. 27, 1910 in Prairie City, was a 1929 graduate of Prairie City Community High School, and attended Drake University in Des Moines. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, July 1990.
