Mabel Soderblom Rites Wednesday; Dies on Monday

Funeral services for Mrs. John E. (Mabel H.) Soderblom, 90, of 831 Woodland Dr., a resident of Newton since 1920, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church.

The Rev. William E. Sexton, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Wallace Funeral Home after 1 p.m. today.

Memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church will be accepted.

Surviving is a daughter, Carol Soderblom of Indianola.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1965 and two brothers.

Mrs. Soderblom was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, had been an active member in several community organizations, taught Sunday school for many years and had been primary department superintendent at the First Presbyterian Church.

The daughter of Hans and Carrie Halverson Halverson (typed as written), she was born Mar. 30, 1888 at Garner, was graduated from Waldorf college in Forest City and attended Highland Park College in Des Moines.

She was married Feb. 18, 1919 at Garner.

She died Monday morning at the Iowa Jewish Home in Des Moines. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, June 1978.
