Elva Snook

Elva Millsap Snook, 85, a resident of Colonial Manor in Baxter since June and former resident of 1005 N. 3rd Ave. E. in Newton and the Monroe and Kellogg communities, died Sunday, Oct. 7, at Colonia Manor of cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Reese Chapel.

The rev. Albert Sudbrock, pastor of the Newton Baptist Temple, will conduct services. Burial will be in Palo Alto Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. today. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are two sons, Delbert of Leighton and Larry of Moberly, Mo.; a daughter, Doris Butler of Reasnor, 20 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lela Mefford of Newton and Marie (Mrs. Howard) Reed of Omaha, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Clarence, in 1976.

The daughter of John and Pearl Dillman Millsap, she was born July 4, 1905 in Louisiana.

She was married to Clarence E. Snook Oct. 27, 1923 in Oskaloosa. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, October 1990.
