KELLOGG - Leonard Russell Shill, 75, of Rt. 2, Kellogg, a lifelong resident of Kellogg died Sunday morning, March 4, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines of heart failure.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton.

The Rev. Lyle Johnston, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Kellogg, will conduct services. Burial will be in Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg.

Friends may call at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Kellogg United Church or the Kellogg Christian Church will be accepted.

Survivors are a sister, Mary Jane (Mrs. Louis) Lenz of Kellogg; two nephews, Dwight and Dale Lenz, both of Kellogg; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Shill, a farmer, was a member of the Kellogg Christian Church and the Jasper County Farm Bureau.

The son of Swade and Hannah Anderson Shill, he was born Dec. 26, 1914 in Rock Creek Township in Jasper County and was graduated from Kellogg Community High School. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, March 1990
