GRINNELL - Funeral services for Esther G. Richardson Sharp, 84, of Grinnell, a former resident of rural Kellogg, were held today, May 20, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.
The Rev. Kenneth Wallace, pastor of the Newburg United Church of Christ, conducted services. Burial was in Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg.
Memorials to the Newburg United Church of Christ will be accepted.
She died Friday at Grinnell General Hospital of cancer.
Survivors are a son, Delmar Sharp of Grinnell; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Irma R. Sharp of Kellogg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clarence, and two brothers, Harold Richardson and Ralph Richardson.
Mrs. Sharp was a member of the Newburg United Church of Christ, Women's Fellowship of the church and Richland Grange.
The daughter of Fred and Mamie Grandia Richardson, she was born Oct. 22, 1906 near Kellogg, was educated in rural Jasper County Schools and was graduated in 1924 from Newton Community High School.
She was married to Clarence W. Sharp Jan. 5, 1928 in Newton and the couple farmed near Kellogg and Killduff and in 1942 moved to a farm near Newburg. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, May 1991
