WEST POINT - Kenneth F. Selters, 79, of West Point, a longtime resident of Newton, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the Fort Madison Community Hospital.

Hofbauer Funeral Home in Farmington is handling arrangements.

Graveside rites will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Boneparte Cemetery.

The Rev. Tim Snart of Farmington will conduct services.

Masonic rites will be held at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and family visitation will follow.

Survivors are his wife, Helen; and a sister, Darline Rubleske of Benton harbor, Mich.

Mr. Selters, an employee of the Maytag Co., for 36 years, resided in Newton from 1930 until July, 1990, when he and his wife moved to the West Point Care Center.

An Army veteran of World War II, he was awarded two purple hearts.

He was a 50-year member of the Newton Masonic Lodge No. 59 AF and AM.

The son of Ernest and Christine Obe Selters, he was born March 11, 1911 in Woodstock, Ill.

He was married to Helen Cummings Arg. 17, 1979 at the Little Brown Church near Nashua. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, February 1991
