MONROE - Roy Schrader, 81, a lifelong resident of the Monroe area, died Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Des Moines General Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe.

Arthur Nichols of Knoxville will conduct services. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery south of Prairie City.

Survivors are a step-daughter, Virginia St. John of Lusk, Wyo.; two step-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews in the Monroe area.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, the former Golden Grimes, eight brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Schrader was a longtime Monroe area farmer.

The son of T. A. and Martha Mc Daniel Schrader, he was born March 2, 1909 at Monroe. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, September 1990
