OAKLAND ACRES - Thomas E. Sanger, 56, of 2 Fore Seasons Dr., Oakland Acres died today, Jan. 5, at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center of cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Grinnell United Methodist Church.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell beginning at noon Friday and visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials in his name will be accepted. They may be sent to the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112.

Survivors are his wife, Sandra; a son, Sean of Indianapolis, Ind.; a daughter, Nikki Sanger of Rochester Hills, Mich.; a brother, David of Salida, Colo.; and a sister, Myrtle Lou Mardikes of Kansas City, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Sanger was employed in the data processing department of General Telephone Co. and in 1990 began work at the Maytag Corp. in Newton.

Mr. Sanger was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church and the Grinnell Elks Lodge.

The son of Everett and Mary Jantzen Sanger, he was born April 25, 1938 in Grinnell and was graduated from Grinnell High School. He attended Grinnell College and was graduated from the American Institute of Business in Des Moines.

He was married to Sandra Hoffert Nov. 25, 1960 in Newton.

Following their marriage, the couple lived in Newton and later moved to Grinnell. In 1971 they moved to Oakland Acres. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, January 1995.
