KILLDUFF - Funeral services for Jack L. Cox, 55, of Box 524, Killduff, a resident of Killduff since 1987, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, at the First Baptist Church in Newton.

The Rev. John Moorlach, pastor of the Killduff United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials in his name will be accepted.

He died Friday morning at the Skiff Medical Center following a heart attack.

Survivors are his wife, Laurie; two sons, R. David of Cainsville, Mo., and Billy Jack "B.J." of Killduff; three daughters, Lori Claussen of Lovilia, Cindy Claussen of Lake City and Samara Cox of Killduff; and 10 grandchildren.

Also, surviving are his mother, Etta Parker of Des Moines; three brothers, Charle Parker of Kansas City, Mo., Jerry Parker of Centterville and Richard "Bud" Cromer of Russell; and four sisters, Jean Thompson, Marilyn Pratt, Marjorie Duree and Diana Vandervort all of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his father, his step-parents, Helen Cox and Charles Parker, and a grandson.

Mr. Cox, a welder in the sheet metal department at the Maytag Co. until retiring in December, 1992, was a member of the Moose Lodge 923, Foursquare Church in Des Moines and United Auto Workers, Local 997, Retirees Union.

He had served in the Army from November, 1954, until July, 1957.

The son of Ruben David and Etta Fryer Cox, he was born Nov. 3, 1937 in Des Moines.

He was married to Laurie Wogan Dec. 5, 1987 in the Christian Church in Kellogg.

He also had resided in the Des Moines and Newton areas. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, July 1993
