ZEARING - Marjorie Byal, 90, a former longtime resident of the Mingo area, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, at the home of her nephew, Danny Phelan, in Zearing.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Boyd-Davis Funeral Home in Baxter.

The Rev. Robert Hinshaw, pastor of Ashton Chapel, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery near Ira.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Miss Byal, who taught second grade in Collins and Indianola schools until retiring in 1968, is survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.

She was born July 24, 1903 in Mingo, the daughter of Henry and Martha Rippey Byal, and was a Mingo Community High School graduate.

She had resided in the Phelan home in Zearing for the past eight years. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, December 1993
