Henry Brue

Henry Brue, 73, of 1223 W. 4th St. N., a longtime resident of Newton, died Monday morning, April 26, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Des Moines following a heart attack.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Lutheran Church.

The Rev. Matthew Martens, pastor of the church, will conduct services.

Burial will be in the Veterans Section of Newton Union Cemetery. The flag presentation will be given by the Newton Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Friends may call at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home after 3 p.m. today and visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials to the First Lutheran Church elevator fund will be accepted.

Survivors are his wife, Josephine; a son, Fred Schade of Mason City; six grandsons; a granddaughter; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clifford and Floyd, both of Newton; and two sisters, Martha Illingworth of Newton and Helen Hulin of Gilman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Harvey, Corneal, Ralph and Dale, and a sister, Thelma Worden, April 24, 1993.

Mr. Brue retired from the Vernon Co., in 1983 after 35 years of employment.

An Army veteran, who served in the South Pacific during World War II, he was a member of the First Lutheran Church and Newton American Legion Post 111 and was a life member of the Newton Veterans of Foreign War Post 1655 and Disabled American Veterans.

The son of Rasmus H. and Christine Finkelson Brue, he was born April 5, 1920 in Tama County and attended Newton schools.

He was married to Josephone Wynn Schade April 17, 1948 in Newton. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, April 1993
