Juanita P. Anderson

Juanita P. Spain Anderson, 83, of 515 E. 11th St. S., a lifelong resident of Jasper County died Saturday morning, July 31, at the Skiff Medical Center of complications of cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Todd Schlitter, associate pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Palo Alto Cemetery in rural Newton.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. today and visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Newton First United Methodist Church or the Reasnor United Methodist Church will be accepted.

Survivors are two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda K. and Stephen Osborn of Lakewood, Colo., and Merry J. and Ron Streeter of Kellogg; five grandchildren; and a sister, Alta Zickel of Newton.

Mrs. Anderson, a member of the First United Methodist Church and DD Sunday school class, had worked in the delis at Stockton's and Easter's Super Valu stores in Newton.

The daughter of Frank U. and Emma B. Tousley Spain, she was born Dec. 2, 1909 in rural Newton and attended Reasnor rural school and the Fletcher School in Oskaloosa.

She was married to Robert Henry Anderson Nov. 18, 1939 in Reasnor.

Mrs. Anderson was raised in Reasnor, moving to Newton as an adult. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, July 1993
