CEDAR RAPIDS - Merritt W. Albee Jr., 68, of 1751 A. Ave. N.E., Cedar Rapids, a former resident of Newton, died Friday morning, Aug. 27, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Graveside rites will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Newton Union Cemetery.

John W. Bailey of the Worldwide Church of God in Iowa City will conduct services.

Murdoch Funeral Homes in Cedar Rapids is handling arrangements.

Surviving is a brother, Max Albee of Cedar Rapids.

Mr. Albee, an avid radio enthusiast, had operated CR Stamps and Coins in Cedar Rapids since 1977.

Mr. Albee served in the Coast Guard from May, 1943, to June, 1966.

The son of Merritt W. and Blanche D. Annis Albee, he was born Aug. 20, 1925 in Newton and was a 1943 graduate of Newton Community High School. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, August 1993
