Bernard Crocker

Bernard "Bud" Crocker, 73, of 1426 1st Ave. E., a lifelong resident of Newton, died Thursday evening, July 15, at Nelson Manor Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Syd Mc Crorey, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 am. Saturday.

Memorials in his name may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Arlene; a daughter, Marilyn Conrey of West Liberty: two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Erscelldine Ulrey of Newton; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Crocker, a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 923, was a truck driver and plumber.

He had been employed by Brownies in Marshalltown, Wildings and Brookwood, both in Newton, and Wonders in Grinnell.

The son of Parley and Grace Wonders Crocker, he was born Dec. 10, 1919 in Newton.

He was married to Arlene Nelson Shafer April 9, 1957 in Las Vegas, Nev. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, July 1993
