DAVENPORT - Benjamin W. Brooks, 82, of Davenport, a former resident of Jasper County, died Monday, Aug. 9.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Davenport.

Survivors are his wife, Anna; a son; three daughters; two step-daughters; 15 grandchildren; a brother, Verne, of Michigan; and two sisters, Virginia Allen and Lucille Snodgrass, both of Newton.

The son of R. W. and Marie Brooks, he was born Dec. 11, 1910 in Jasper County and was graduated from Baxter Community High School. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, August 1993
