Arlene C. Peters, 80, of Newton died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at Hospice of Jasper County’s Monarch Wing in Newton.

The family will greet friends from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. today at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Palo Alto Cemetery in rural Newton. Memorials to Hospice of Jasper County may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Ira and Laura (Eggert) Charlesworth, Arlene was born Oct. 13, 1927, in Newton. She graduated from Newton High School in 1945. Arlene married Howard Peters, Jr., on Oct. 6, 1950, in Newton.

Arlene worked in the office at the Parsons Company. After the birth of her son, she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Skiff Hospital Auxiliary and attended Community Heights Alliance Church. She enjoyed taking care of her house and cooking. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.

Survivors include her son, David; her three grandchildren, Nicholas, Lauren and Madeline Peters; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard, on Aug. 30, 2007; and her sister, Eloise Wormley.
