Robert G. “Bob” Pfander, 37, of Waukee, formerly of Newton, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007, at his grandmother’s home in Newton.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with Chaplain Merle Smith of Skiff Medical Center in Newton. Friends may call after noon on Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 3 to 5 p.m. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.

Memorials to his wife, Jennifer Pfander, and her children may be left at the funeral home.

The son of Larry L. and Nancy J. (Miller) Pfander, he was born Dec. 3, 1969 in Newton. He graduated from Newton High School in 1988 and was a carpenter apprentice for Neumann Brothers Inc. for two years in Des Moines. He lived in Newton for 34 years prior to moving to Waukee three years ago. On May 4, 2002, he married Jennifer J. Walker in Newton. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, and he enjoyed his job, camping, motorcycles, NASCAR racing and he loved his family.

Survivors include his wife, Jennifer of Waukee; three sons, Jayden J. Pfander, Michael J. Hesse and Jeremiah D. Hesse, all of Waukee; one daughter, Jensen G. Pfander of Waukee; his parents, Larry L. and Nancy J. Pfander; a brother, Larry S. Pfander (Shelly Patton) of Newton; a sister, Jackie N. (Curt) Cass of Newton; his grandparents, Leah Miller and Bill L. and Arlene Pfander, all of Newton; his mother-in-law, Linda Walker of Newton; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roger and Berts Walker of Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Jack O. Miller.
