James “Jim” M. Olson, 55, of Kellogg died Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Wallace Family Funeral Home with Chaplain Merle Smith of Skiff Medical Center officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.

Family will greet friends at the funeral home following the memorial service. Memorials in Jim’s name may be left at the funeral home.

The son of Marlyn and Margaret (Robbins) Olson, he was born March 11, 1952, in Grinnell. He grew up in Grinnell and has always lived in the Grinnell and Kellogg areas. He graduated from Grinnell High School in 1970. On Feb. 14, 1976, he married Linda Leonard in Kellogg.

Mr. Olson worked for Claire’s Cleaners, Wilcox-Garland Furniture, Farmhand Inc., Midwest Manufacturing and the Maytag Company. He was also self-employed as a RV transporter. He was a lifelong member of the UAW. He served on the Kellogg Volunteer Fire Department for 18 years and also on the Kellogg City Council. He was a member of the Kellogg Historical Society. He enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren, and loved camping, watching NASCAR, visiting with friends, cooking, eating, loved Dodge vehicles.

Survivors include his wife Linda Olson of Kellogg; two daughters Chris (Travis) Propst of Grinnell and Shelley Dodd of Newton; six grandchildren, Tanner Hathaway, Lindsey, Josh and Nick Kreigel, and Brennen and Drew Dodd; his mother, Margaret Olson of Grinnell; one sister, Linda (Myron) Manley of Osceola and many aunts, cousins and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marlyn Olson.
