Evelyn “Darlene” Munn, 82, of Newton, formerly of Marion, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at the Hospice of Jasper County’s Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The Rev. A.B. Sudbrock of the Newton Baptist Temple will officiate. The family will greet friends on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until time of the service. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.

Memorials to Hospice of Jasper County or the Newton Baptist Temple may be left at the funeral home.

Born Aug. 21, 1925, in Nora, Neb., she was the daughter of Theodore and Zena (Horn) Dodson. She had lived in Moulton, Ottumwa, Marion and Newton. She was married to “Basil” Pete Munn.

She attended Grant and James Rural Schools in Appanoose County and attend Moulton High School. She worked at Collins Radio in Rockwell-Collins for 17 years as a deburrer, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Newton Baptist Temple and Local IBEW in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed her church, loved her family and friends, and her cats. She also enjoyed camping, cooking, flowers and playing cards and dominoes with her family.

Survivors include her one son, Lonnie (Peggy) White of Newton; two daughters, Nancy (Jim) Douglas of Newton and Donna Long of Mt. Pleasant; one daughter-in-law, Connie White of Newton; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Phillis (Marvin) Wright of Mt. Vernon, Wash., Thelma (John) Stattner of Nampa, Idaho and Iletta (Gary) Stewart of Homedale, Idaho; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pete; one son, Jerry; and three brothers, Virgil Dodson, Vernon Dodson and Harold Dodson.
