Vivian McIntire, 87, of Newton died Sept. 20, 2007, at the Nelson Manor Nursing Home in Newton.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Mark Young officiating. Burial will be in the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service with a coffee time at the funeral home. Memorials to Hospice of Jasper County may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Cecil and Ollie (McAllister) Tipton, she was born Aug. 26, 1920, in Milan, Mo. She had lived in Newton for 65 years. She was united in marriage to Lloyd “Mac” McIntire on July 7, 1969, in Milan, Mo.

She had worked for many years as the head of housekeeping at the Maytag Hotel. She had also worked at the Banes Restaurant, Maytag and Skiff Medical Center. She was a member of the Women of the Moose. Vivian enjoyed playing Bingo every Friday night at the Moose Lodge, and she and her husband, Mac, also enjoyed blue grass music.

Survivors include one daughter, Donna (Wayne) Northcutt of Newton; eight grandchildren, Becky Lane of Knoxville, Pam Hernandez of Marshalltown, Kim (Dale) Conklin of Storm Lake, Kevin (Kathleen) Hegwood of Newton, Dennis (Lori) Rainey of Monroe, Doug Ware of Newton, Patrick (Renae) Northcutt of Grinnell, and John Whitacre of Newton; 21 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lloyd; two daughters, Katherine Lambert and Connie Pickett; two grandsons, Darrell and Douglas; one great-great-granddaughter, Kaydance Siedlecki; and her brother Albert Earl.*
