Alice M. Turley McAnally, 80, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Eric Johnson officiating. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Memorials in Alice’s name may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Paul and Irene (Epps) Nichols, she was born Dec. 5, 1926, in Des Moines. She grew up in Des Moines and moved to Newton, where she lived most of her life. She was united in marriage to Marvin Turley in 1974. Marvin died in 1995. She married John McAnally in 1999 and he passed away in 2000.

Alice was a graduate of Newton Senior High School in Newton. She was the manager of the Candleridge Apartments in Newton for 5 years, retiring in 2005. Previous to this, she had managed the Marilyn’s Hallmark Store at the Newton Shopping Center.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church and enjoyed playing cards and going out to eat with her friends, Jane and Joan.

Survivors include two daughters, Bev (Gary) Price and Dana (Larry) Beck, all of Newton; one son, Scott (Jo Beth) Ellenwood of Des Moines; one daughter-in-law, Denise Ellenwood of Kellogg; 11 stepchildren; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Marvin Turley and John McAnally; and one son, Terry in 1995.
