LEESBURG, Fla. — Donald James Kumm, 81, of Leesburg, Fla., died Sept. 21, 2007.

A memorial service will be at the Beyers Funeral Home, 1123 W. Main St., in Leesburg on Friday, Sept. 28 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be designated to Hospice House, 12300 Lane Park Rd., Tavares, Fla. 32778.

The son of Mary Louise (Williby) and Everett Kumm, he was born Dec. 19, 1925, in Newton and graduated from Newton in 1943. Don served in the Navy in World War II and later earned a teaching degree at Florida Southern University. He enjoyed spending time with family, playing shuffleboard, pinochle, pool and talking about his favorite sports teams.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte; his children, Doug Julie, Candy and Dennis; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and siblings, Helen (Marvin) Nuese of Newton and Marvin (Sally) of Orlando, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Hal; a son, Don; and an infant daughter, Joanie.
