Eunice, the daughter of Harry and Agnes (Jensen) Hermansen, was born June 24, 1927, in Nysted, Neb. She was a high school graduate and attended Grand View College. She later received her administrator certificate.

Eunice died on Oct. 12, 2007, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. She was 80 years old.

Eunice was employed as administrator for 20 years, at Central Iowa Lutheran Homes for the Elderly in Des Moines. She was a longtime resident of Des Moines and the Newton area and Oakland Acres, near Grinnell.

On Aug. 13, 1950, Eunice was united in marriage with Beryl “Gus” Milton Knudsen in Junction City, Ore. Eunice was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Newton and the church choir and several women’s church groups. She loved spending time with her family and friends, music and singing, traveling, craft work and watching the Cubs.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at the First Lutheran Church, 309 E. Third St. N. in Newton. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home, 310 N. Second Ave. E. in Newton. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be designated in Eunice’s name to the First Lutheran Church or to Grand View College.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Beryl.

Those left to honor the memory of Eunice include her son, Dean Knudsen of Gettysburg, Pa.; two daughters, Sandra Knudsen and Luanne Knudsen, both of Prairie City; her extended family, Howard and Alice Kulzer, Kara and Matt Jordahl, Zachary Kulzer, Wally Kenison, Shane Kenison; and her many special friends and neighbors.
